Remote Notary Training: Prepare for Online Sessions
Remote notary training should prepare you to manage the full online appointment. Opening a video call is only one step. You also need a process for preparing documents, checking identity, handling interruptions, and protecting the completed records.
The TTS Training Academy Remote Online Notary Specialist program brings those steps together. This 19-hour, instructor-led virtual course uses demonstrations, guided workflows, and practical scenarios. It is designed for commissioned notaries preparing to understand remote online notarization.
Begin remote notary training with the workflow
First, look at the appointment from the client’s perspective. What information should the client receive before the session? Which documents and equipment need attention? How will the client know what happens next?
Our client preparation guide for online notarization provides a useful starting point. Use those questions to build a clear intake process. Then practice explaining the process in plain language. A calm explanation helps the client follow each step.
Practice the checks and the exceptions
The course covers identity proofing, credential analysis, electronic signatures, seals, and certificates. It also addresses audio-video communication, recordkeeping, and signer information. These topics belong in one connected process.
However, a smooth demonstration is only part of the work. Ask what happens when an identity check fails or the connection drops. Practice recognizing when you need to pause, resolve a problem, or end a session. Do not treat a technical workaround as permission to skip a required step.
Keep training and authorization separate
Florida has a registration process for remote online notaries. Review the Florida Department of State’s RON requirements for the current application, education, and technology steps. Confirm the requirements that apply to you before offering the service.
The Academy certificate documents course completion. It does not grant a commission, online notary authorization, or platform approval. The Academy training disclaimer explains that distinction. Use the course to develop skills while you complete the official requirements separately.
Prepare for the class and the next appointment
Before class, check your camera, microphone, and connection. Write down the parts of the workflow you want to understand better. For example, you might focus on document preparation, a failed identity check, or secure record handling.
If you need a stronger base first, read our guide to building core notary skills. Then compare the Academy’s available training paths. Remote notary training works best when you connect the instruction to specific tasks and practice them consistently.
