Business logistics connects the people and steps that move an order to the place where someone needs it. When each team sees only its own task, a small gap can delay the whole job. A shared plan makes those handoffs easier to manage.
Map the movement from beginning to end
Start with one recurring order or delivery. Identify where it begins, each handoff, and the final receiving point. Include preparation, approvals, dispatch, transit, receipt, and any work needed before the item is ready to use.
Then assign an owner to each step. Record what that person needs before starting and what they must pass to the next person. This often reveals delays that a shipment tracker cannot show.
Compare the available logistics arrangements
Different requests need different arrangements. Depending on the shipment, the options may include supplier delivery, a suitable carrier, a document courier, or coordinated collection. Check the provider’s service limits, coverage, timing, handling requirements, and total cost.
For recurring work, also compare separate deliveries with a planned schedule. Consolidating suitable shipments may simplify receiving, but waiting for a combined load may not fit an urgent requirement. Decide based on the actual work and confirmed provider options.
Give the team one current view
Keep the order reference, destination, responsible contacts, planned dates, and open issues together. Use a tool the team will maintain. A shared tracker can be enough when the volume is manageable.
Also agree on how to report exceptions. If a supplier changes a date, the receiving team and the person planning the work both need the update. Assign someone to confirm that the revised plan still works.
How TTS can assist
TTS can help map the workflow through business consulting and coordinate schedules and responsibilities through project management support. Review Shipping & Courier Services for document delivery and shipping coordination requests.
Before work begins, confirm the shipment type, service area, provider responsibilities, and handling needs. Any specialized transport or storage requirement needs its own suitability review and agreement.
Start with a missed handoff
Choose a recent delay and trace where the information stopped moving. Fix that handoff, assign an owner, and check the next delivery to see whether the change helped.
